Naproxen sodium comes as a tablet. It is typically taken orally twice daily. Available in 220, 250, 375, or 500mg doses. This drug should be taken with a meal, milk or antacids to minimize adverse gastrointestinal effects.

What if I forget to take a dose of naproxen sodium?

Naproxen sodium is taken when needed. However if there is a dosing schedule, use the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double up the amount taken after a mixed dose.

What happens if I overdose on naproxen sodium?

An overdose of naproxen sodium can cause drowsiness, indigestion, heartburn, nausea or vomiting. Monitoring and managing symptomatic and supportive care should occur following an overdose. There are no specific remedies.

The risk is greater if you have heart disease, or increased risk of heart disease. If you smoke, have high blood pressure or diabetes you have an increased risk of heart disease. Naproxen sodium may increase the risk of bleeding when taken with warfarin, enoxaparin or dabigatran among other medicine.
