About Soolantra

What is Soolantra?

Soolantra is a topical cream that contains ivermectin, an anti-parasitic medication. It is thought that Soolantra works to heal rosacea lesions by killing microscopic Demodex mites that live in the skin. Everyone has the mites, but studies have shown that they exist in greater numbers on the skin of those with rosacea. These mites can also leave bacteria behind. Ivermectin also has anti-inflammatory properties.

How do I use Soolantra?

Soolantra should be applied once daily at the same time every day to the areas of the face that are affected by inflammatory lesions. Apply a thin layer of medication over the affected areas; a pea sized amount should be sufficient. Wash your hands after each application. Don’t put this medication on your lips, around your eyes or in your nostrils.

What if I forget to apply a dose of Soolantra?

If you forget to apply a dose of Soolantra, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember it. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular routine. Do not apply two consecutive doses to compensate for a missed one.

What happens if I overdose on Soolantra?

Overdose on Soolantra is unlikely. Overuse might result in rash and exaggerated side effects. If you think you are using too much Soolantra cream, tell your doctor. If someone accidentally ingests Soolantra, call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.

Before taking Soolantra , tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Soolantra or any other topical medications.

  • You are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medications or herbal supplements.

  • You are using any other products or medications on the affected areas.

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • You have any other skin conditions or if you are sensitive to any other treatments or skincare products.

What are the possible side effects from using Soolantra?

Possible side effects from Soolantra include dry skin, burning and irritation at the site of application. Other possible serious side effects include allergic reaction. If you experience any serious or bothersome side effects, report them to your doctor as soon as possible.

How do I store Soolantra?

Store Soolantra cream tightly closed in the tube at a temperature between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep this medication out of reach of children and pets.
