How do I take methadone HCL?

Methadone HCL is taken orally with or without food. This medication comes as a tablet or a liquid. Usually, liquid methadone costs more than the tablets. • You have a history of drug or alcohol abuse.

• You use tobacco products.

• You are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.

Methadone HCL may make you drowsy. It is not advisable to drive a car or operate heavy machinery while taking this medication. Avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages while taking methadone; it may increase dangerous side effects. This medication may cause dizziness. To avoid this, get up slowly from a reclining position.
