About Daysee

What is Daysee?

Daysee is an extended cycle oral contraceptive that contains .15mg of levonorgestrel (progestogen) and .03mg of ethinyl estradiol (estrogen). The last 7 pills in the pack contain just .01mg of estrogen. Daysee is a good birth control for anyone that wants to limit periods to just four times per year. Daysee prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation and thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching the egg. It also changes the lining of the uterus to make it more difficult for a fertilized egg to attach.

How do I take Daysee?

Like other birth control pills, Daysee should be taken at the exact same time every day in order for the pills to be the most effective. Pick a time of day when it is easiest for you to remember. You should start taking Daysee on the first Sunday after your period. If you aren’t changing to Daysee from another hormonal contraceptive, you will need to use back-up protection for 7 days after you start taking the pill. Continue taking one pill per day until you finish the pack. Be sure to fill your next prescription before your pack runs out. You should get your period while taking the last 7 pills in the pack.

What if I forget to take a dose of Daysee?

If you forget to take a pill, take the missed pill as soon as you remember. If you miss a full day, take two pills the next day and continue on your regular schedule. If you miss two pills in a row, take two pills on the day you remember and then two the next day. You should then use back up birth control for 7 days. If you miss more than two pills, skip them and continue to take one per day until you finish the pack. Use back-up birth control for 7 days. If you have any questions about missed pills, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
