About Envarsus XR

Envarsus XR is a drug used in combination with other immunosuppressants to prevent the body from rejecting organs after transplant. It inhibits T-lymphocyte activation and proliferation as well as the T-helper-cell-dependent B-cell response, which results in immune system inactivity. Through this action, the body is unable to attempt to force transplanted organs out.

Your first dose of Envarsus XR is likely to be an injection shortly following the completion of a transplant. Injections will continue until your doctor deems you ready to begin taking this drug orally. Take the capsule once per day at the same time each day, usually in the morning, with or without food. Be sure to continue to take the capsule either with food every time or without food every time once a precedent has been set. Swallow the capsule whole; do not break it, crush it, chew it, or pour out the contents of the capsule.

If you have missed your scheduled dose by 14 hours or more, skip the dose that you missed. Never take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

If you overdose on this drug, you may begin to notice some of the severe symptoms listed under side effects. Get to an emergency room as fast as possible or call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

Before taking Envarsus XR, tell your doctor if:

  • You have kidney or liver disease

  • You have heart disease

  • You have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or triglycerides

  • You have a heart rhythm disorder

  • You have a history of long QT syndrome

  • You take heart rhythm medication

  • You use other medications that can weaken your immune system

Envarsus XR has been shown to cause side effects in some patients, including infections, kidney problems, urination problems, tremors or shaking, numbness or tingling, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, weakness, headache, insomnia, low phosphate, high potassium, or swelling in the hands or feet. Get help from a qualified medical professional if you begin to experience pain or swelling near the transplanted organ, changes in your mental state, problems with speech, difficulty walking, decreased vision, painful or difficult urination, swelling in your feet or ankles, headache with chest pain and severe dizziness, fainting, fast or pounding heartbeats, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, very high potassium, very low magnesium, very low phosphate, nervous system problems, or signs of stomach bleeding.

Store this medication at room temperature and keep it as far away from moisture and heat as possible. Do not allow children or pets to reach this medication.

The action of Envarsus XR may increase your risk of developing infections, lymphoma, or other cancers. These risks increase if you are treated over long periods with drugs that reduce the effect of the immune system. Some people have developed diabetes following use of Envarsus XR, especially those who have undergone a kidney transplant. Talk to your doctor about the risks involved with taking this drug.

“I have been able to afford and purchase my prescribed medications for prices much better than using my insurance. I am trying to understand how that is possible. Anyway, I highly recommend”
