What is Gengraf?

Gengraf is a brand drug that comes in both capsule and liquid form and it is used to help the body fight infections and prevent the rejection of a transplanted organ such as a kidney or liver. It works by lowering the body’s immune system.

This drug may also be prescribed to treat severe psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis in patients.

How do I use Gengraf?

Use Gengraf exactly as directed by your doctor. Gengraf is typically prescribed to be taken in two separate doses daily, with or without food.

If you are taking the liquid form of Gengraf, use the dosing syringe or dosing measuring spoon or cup provided to measure your dose.

It may take up to 4 months before you get the full benefit of this drug for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.

Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it gets worse.

What if I forget to use a dose of Gengraf?

Take your missed dose of Gengraf as soon as your remember to take it, unless it is almost time for the next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dose schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

What happens if I overdose on Gengraf?

In case of overdose, call Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) to find out what to do, or seek immediate medical attention.

  • you are allergic to Gengraf or any other medications

  • you are taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications, vitamins, or supplements

  • you have a history of liver disease, kidney disease, cancer, high cholesterol, high triglyercides, or high blood pressure

  • Gengraf may cause dizziness. Do not drive or use machinery until you know how this drug affects you.

Contact your doctor if you experience these symptoms and if they do not go away:

  • swollen gums or pain in the gums

  • increased blood pressure

  • diarrhea or nausea

  • tremors or shaking

  • acne

  • increased growth of body hair or facial hair

  • signs of an allergic reaction (including hives, trouble breathing, swelling of the lips, face, tongue or throat)

  • pale or yellowed skin

  • bruising easily

  • unusual bleeding

  • decreased or blurred vision

  • difficulty speaking or walking

  • change in your mental state

  • signs of infection such as fever, chills, mouth or skin sores, flu-like symptoms

  • difficulty urinating or painful or decreased urination

  • nausea, upset stomach, or loss of appetite

  • fatigue

  • severe headache

  • severe chest pain

  • irregular heartbeats

How do I store Gengraf?

Store this medication tightly closed when not in use. Store it at room temperature and keep away from excess moisture and heat. Keep this medication out of reach of children and away from pets. Properly dispose of any expired or unnecessary medication.

Warnings

  • Avoid consuming grapefruit products while taking Gengraf as grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with this medication and cause adverse side effects.

  • Avoid being around people who have infections or who are sick. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop signs of infection.

  • Avoid excess exposure to sunlight while using this medication as use of this medication may make it easier for you to get sunburned.
