About Durezol

This medicine is an ophthalmic corticosteroid used to treat swelling, pain, redness, or irritation of the eye after eye surgery. It is also used to treat uveitis (inflammation of the eye).

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine is only for the eye. Do not get it in your nose or mouth. SHAKE WELL before each use. IF YOU WEAR CONTACT LENSES, remove them before you use this medicine. Soft contact lenses may absorb a chemical in this medicine. Wait 10 minutes after you use this medicine before you put your contacts back in. TO USE THIS MEDICINE IN THE EYE, first, wash your hands. Tilt your head back. Using your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Drop the medicine into the pouch and gently close your eyes. Immediately use your finger to apply pressure to the inside corner of the eyelid for 1 to 2 minutes. Do not blink. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a clean, dry tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. TO PREVENT GERMS FROM CONTAMINATING YOUR MEDICINE, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface, including the eye. Keep the container tightly closed. IF YOU WILL BE USING THIS MEDICINE TO TREAT BOTH EYES after surgery, do not use the same bottle for both eyes. Doing so may increase the risk of passing an infection from one eye to the other. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, between 59 and 77 degrees F (15 and 25 degrees C), away from heat, moisture, and light. Store in an upright position. Do not freeze. Do not store in the bathroom. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT use 2 doses at once.

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor if you wear soft contact lenses or if you have any other medical conditions, including diabetes, eye discharge, thinning of the cornea or sclera, glaucoma, increased eye pressure, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you have a history of herpes infection of the eye or if you are planning to have or have recently had cataract surgery. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a viral eye infection (eg, herpes, smallpox or vaccinia, chickenpox or varicella) or certain other eye infections (eg, bacterial, fungal, mycobacterial). Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.

NO COMMON SIDE EFFECTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED with the proper use of this medicine. If you notice any unusual effects, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience changes in vision (eg, blurred vision, decreased vision); continued or worsening itching, tearing, or irritation; delayed healing after surgery; discharge from the eye; eye pain; feeling of having something in your eye; sensitivity to light; or new or worsening redness, inflammation, or swelling of the eye or eyelid. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching, difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. CHECK WITH YOUR PHARMACIST about how to dispose of unused medicine.

“I have been able to afford and purchase my prescribed medications for prices much better than using my insurance. I am trying to understand how that is possible. Anyway, I highly recommend”
