About Vandazole

Vandazole is a brand name form metronidazole vaginal gel, an antibiotic used to treat bacterial vaginal infections like bacterial vaginitis.

This medicine should be applied at nighttime before bed. While it’s often given as a single dose, you may need to use it for five nights in a row. Follow your doctor’s dosing instructions carefully. Do not put the gel in your mouth—it is for vaginal use only. You should gently wash your vaginal area before application. Wash your hands before and after handling the medicine tube and vaginal applicator. Insert the medicine directly into your vagina using the provided applicator. Throw away the applicator after use, as it is single-use, even if there is some medicine remaining. You may need to use a sanitary napkin during treatment, but don’t use a tampon. Also, don’t use a douche or other vaginal products while using Vandazole.

You should apply your missed dose as soon as you remember. You may skip the missed dose if it’s close to time for your next scheduled dose. Don’t use any extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

An overdose of this medication is not expected to be dangerous. However, if someone in your home has swallowed some of this medicine and is experiencing adverse effects, seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222.
