What is Tamulosin HCL?

Tamulosin HCL is an alpha-blocker medication that is used to treat urination problems and symptoms that arise from having an enlarged prostate gland or BPH. Symptoms treated with tamulosin include painful urination, difficulty urinating due to hesitation, dribbling, or a slow or weak stream of urine, feeling of having to urinate frequently, and an incomplete emptying of the contents of the bladder. Tamuslosin HCL works by relaxing the smooth muscle tissue in the bladder and muscle fibers in the prostate to allow for an easy and less painful passage of urine for those that have BPH.

How do I take Tamsulosin hcl?

Tamsulosin HCL comes as a capsule to be taken orally with a glass of water. Take this medication at the same time each day 30 minutes after eating. Do not crush, chew, or break open the capsules. You may start to notice changes in your symptoms after three to five days, but for some patients it can take up to four weeks for changes to take effect.
