About Sumadan

Sumadan Wash is a topical prescription treatment for acne, seborrhea, and rosacea. It may also be prescribed for other skin conditions as determined by your dermatologist. It is a sulfonamide antibiotic and keratolytic agent. It kills the bacteria causing your skin condition and promotes shedding of the top layer of skin.

How do I use Sumadan Wash?

Always wash your hands before and after using Sumadan. Apply Sumadan Wash to wet skin (affected areas only) and gently rub it in until it lathers (about 20 seconds). Rinse it off and pat your skin dry. Only use this medication as often as your doctor has instructed you to.

What if I forget to take a dose of Sumadan Wash?

It is best to apply Sumadan Wash at the same time every day to help you remember. If you do forget, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed dose and continue with your normal schedule. Do not apply more of this topical medication than you normally would.

What happens if I overdose on Sumadan Wash?

It is unlikely that you will overdose on Sumadan Wash when using this medication topically, but it may be harmful when swallowed. If you or someone in your household has swallowed any of this wash, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.

Before using Sumadan Wash, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to this or any other medications

  • You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medications, supplements, or skin cleansers

  • You have eczema

  • You have a history of lupus

  • You have any open wounds or damaged skin around the areas you will be applying Sumadan Wash

  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

What are the possible side effects of using Sumadan Wash?

Some of the most common side effects of Sumadan Wash include mild skin irritation, dryness, redness, stinging, and burning. If you have any of these side effects, they will most likely be short-lasting. If they do last a long time or become more severe, tell your doctor. Serious side effects of this medication are rare, but you should contact your doctor right away if you do have any unusual side effects or if you believe you are having a severe allergic reaction.

How do I store Sumadan Wash?

Keep Sumadan Wash at room temperature (between 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit). Do not store it in the bathroom, as heat, moisture, and bright light can negatively affect it. As with all prescription medications, keep it out of reach of any children or pets in your household.
