About Odefsey

What is Odefsey?

Odefsey is a combination of three antiviral medications, emtricitabine, rilpivirine, and tenofovir prescribed to treat HIV or to help prevent those with a high risk for HIV from contracting it. It may also help to decrease the risk of developing AIDS or HIV-related illnesses. The three medications are nucleoside and nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) that work by slowing the spread of HIV through the body.

How do I take Odefsey?

The Odefsey drug is dispensed as a tablet that is taken orally once a day, with water and usually with a meal. Follow the dosing instructions exactly and continue to take this medication even if you feel well. Odefsey does not cure HIV.

What if I forget to take a dose of Odefsey?

If you forget to take your scheduled dose of Odefsey, do so as soon as you remember and are able unless more than 12 hours have passed since the usual dosing time. In this instance, skip the missed dose and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase the number of pills taken or change the regimen to make up for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose on Odefsey?

If an overdose of the Odefsey drug is suspected, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lost consciousness, contact Emergency Services at 911.

  • You are taking any medications, vitamins, or supplements

  • You have liver or kidney disease

  • You have hepatitis

  • You have osteoporosis or other bone diseases
