INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking dofetilide or ketanserin. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking aliskiren and you have either diabetes or kidney problems. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking aliskiren, angiotensin receptor blockers (eg, losartan), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (eg, ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib), diuretics (eg, furosemide), eplerenone, potassium-sparing diuretics (eg, amiloride, spironolactone), insulin or other medicines for diabetes (eg, glipizide, metformin), certain gold-containing medicines (eg, sodium aurothiomalate), lithium, potassium supplements, salt substitutes containing potassium, thiopurines (eg, azathioprine), diazoxide, digitalis glycosides (eg, digoxin), barbiturates (eg, phenobarbital), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), corticosteroids (eg, prednisone), dextran sulfate, everolimus, sirolimus, trimethoprim, narcotic pain medicines (eg, codeine), or other medicines for high blood pressure. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including heart problems (eg, heart failure); blood vessel problems (eg, in the brain or heart); blood electrolyte problems (eg, high blood potassium levels); an autoimmune disease (eg, lupus, scleroderma); bone marrow suppression; high blood cholesterol or lipid levels; severe immune system problems; gout; low blood sodium levels; low blood volume; dehydration; diabetes; allergies; pregnancy or if you are able to become pregnant; or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you have a history of asthma, liver problems, kidney problems (eg, renal artery stenosis), or a kidney transplant. Tell your doctor if you are on a low-salt (sodium) diet, if you are scheduled to have surgery or to receive anesthesia, if you are on dialysis, if you recently had a certain type of nerve surgery (sympathectomy), or if you have never taken another medicine for high blood pressure. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of angioedema (swelling of the hands, face, lips, eyes, throat, or tongue; difficulty swallowing or breathing; or hoarseness), including angioedema caused by treatment with an ACE inhibitor. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you are unable to urinate or if you are pregnant. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
