How do I take Denavir?

Before applying Denavir, clean and dry the affected area. Cover cold sores with Denavir cream every two hours over the course of four days. It does not need to be applied during sleeping hours. Wash your hands after each application. Follow any application instructions provided to you by your doctor or pharmacist. Dosing and other instructions may vary by patient.

What if I forget to take a dose of Denavir?

If you forget to apply a dose of Denavir, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember it. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your normal routine. Do not use to consecutive applications of Denavir to make up for a missed one.

What happens if I overdose on Denavir?

Denavir overdose is unlikely since it is poorly absorbed if swallowed. If you think you are using too much of this medication, tell your doctor. If someone accidentally swallowed a large amount of Denavir, call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.

Before taking Denavir, tell your doctor if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • You are taking other prescription or nonprescription medications.
